Media Relations Executive (US Sports)
Intro
The Press Box PR team has grown from 0 to more than 50 people in the space of five years and combines extensive journalistic experience with top PR professionals to offer a unique proposition in the market.
Formed in 2020, Press Box PR has grown quickly to become a thriving agency working for a range of sport, consumer, B2B, retail, and hospitality clients on digital and creative PR projects.
Press Box PR is based in Barbican, central London and operates an office-first hybrid model, requiring employees to spend a minimum of three days a week in the London office.
The role
Press Box PR, a fast-growing PR agency, is hiring a Media Relations Executive (US Sports) to join its central London sports team.
Please note: This is a UK-based role. The successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK and will be required to work from our central London office in Barbican a minimum of three days per week.
Reporting to the department leadership team, you’ll be pitching US-focused content, reactive angles, and campaign stories to journalists and editors across UK, US, and international publications that cover major North American leagues and trending sporting culture.
We are looking for someone who genuinely lives and breathes US sports. From the NFL, NBA, and MLB to collegiate sports and beyond, you will have authentic expertise across North American sporting culture, trade windows, off-field trends, and major events. In addition, a strong interest in or knowledge of professional ice hockey and the NHL will be considered a distinct advantage.
You will have a keen eye for detail, an instinct for what transatlantic sports editors want to publish, and the ability to spot trending US storylines that can be turned into high-impact digital PR and earned media coverage.
You will have an active network of relevant sports desk contacts, US sports correspondents, and digital editors that you are confident pitching to, as well as liaising with them to generate feedback that strengthens Press Box PR’s media relationships.
From a media-first perspective, you will also provide creative input on content—including athlete/expert quotes, reactive data pieces, and organic PR stories—identifying where US sports cross over into mainstream news, entertainment, and our consumer department.
Due to the nature of the North American sports calendar and time zone differences, this role will require frequent midweek evening and weekend work, with occasional demand for irregular hours when major US events break.
PBPR is a market leader in the betting and gaming industry and works predominantly with brands in the space. However, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work with other sporting clients and on our brand, creative, and sponsorship activations.
